Clyde Lee Embrey, 86 of Woodbridge passed away at his granddaughters home in Ruther Glen, Tuesday March 14, 2017 with his family by his side. Clyde was born on June 9, 1930 to Clinton Lee and Hilda D. (Costello) Embrey in Purcellville, VA. He joined the US Navy in October 1950 to July 1954, serving in Korea. He received the National Defense Medal, United Nations Medal, Korean Medal with Engagement Star and Good Conduct Medal. Clyde worked for lumber companies before and after his srvice retiring from Fairfax Lumber as an estimator. He married Joan Ann Thurston on September 6, 1954 and the just celebrated 62 years together. Clyde was a long time member of VFW Post 7916 and had served as a Volunteer Fire Fighter. Survivors include his wife, Joan; two sons; Bill and Donnie (Rhonda); sister Jenny Carter; niece Barbara Wright; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Clyde was preceded in death by two daughters; Patricia Embrey, Teresa Ratliff and two brothers Ed and Eugene. Visitation will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday March 22, 2017 from 10 am to 11:30 with chapel services at 11:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Quantico National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Pastor Keith Wollenberg from Mine Road Baptist Church in Spotsylvania VA will perform the funeral services.
