It's hard to pick a favorite memory with someone you knew for 18 years. There were many. Because of how close our wives are, Jason and I shared all of the important milestones with each other. Our weddings, becoming fathers, first homes, being married to two knuckleheaded best friends... but my favorite moments with Jason were the most genuine. Watching him hold his daughters or pushing Krisy's buttons and laughing. And one of the most pure moments I've experienced with anyone was just after he told me that he wouldn't survive. When he told me over the phone we both cried and he explained that he wasn't angry or anything. He said that it simply was what it was and that his time was coming to a close. His only concern was for his family. It was completely selfless and beautiful. We came to hang out the following weekend. Krisy, Valerie and the kids were outside playing in the yard. Jason looked out the window and said, "look at them...they are so incredible". He then talked very calmly about how proud he was of Krisy and went on and on about how strong she was. He said he could see the same strength in Kaylie and how Violet was so funny and was just as strong. He never took his eyes off them as he said all of this. Tears just flowed and he said that he was the luckiest guy on earth. That was one of the most beautiful moments I've ever shared with someone and I'll never forget it.
